Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 14, 2026
PilotFishIQ is operated by Wolf Labs LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains how we handle information when you use the PilotFishIQ app, visit our PilotFishIQ website pages, or contact us. It describes the current beta.
Information we process
Boat profiles and trip information. The app stores boat profiles, preferences, route selections, and recent trip results on your device. When you request an analysis, selected departure and destination information, dates, timezone, and boat details are sent to our hosted analysis service. Boat details can include profile identifiers, vessel characteristics, experience and preference settings, and optional boat nicknames or notes you enter.
We use these details to analyze your planned trip and return results. Please avoid entering sensitive or unrelated personal information in nicknames or notes.
The current beta does not require a PilotFishIQ account or maintain a central customer-profile database. However, online analysis, mapping, search, diagnostics, and temporary caches involve processing information outside your device.
Maps and place search. We use Mapbox to display maps and find locations. Map requests are sent directly from your device to Mapbox and involve your IP address, requested map resources, and session and performance information. Search text and selected place references pass through our service to Mapbox. Trip analysis uses the locations you select and coordinates determined from those locations. See Mapbox’s Privacy Policy for its data practices.
Technical information. Our hosting infrastructure processes connections and requests. Operational diagnostics can include request identifiers, errors, route or place identifiers, and analysis summaries. We use technical information to operate and troubleshoot the service and protect it from abuse.
Services that help operate PilotFishIQ
We use Cloudflare for hosting and request processing, Mapbox for maps and place search, Stormglass and Open-Meteo for marine and atmospheric conditions, Xweather for lightning information, and NOAA/NWS for official alerts.
Environmental requests use geographic sampling points and relevant forecast periods. They originate from our service and do not include your full boat profile. Different providers receive different information for their respective functions.
Forecast and alert results are temporarily cached to reduce repeated requests and support analysis. Some cached records contain geographic coordinates and trip identifiers or names. Providers may also retain operational records under their own policies and applicable service terms.
We also use Squarespace for our website, email services for support, and Apple TestFlight for beta distribution. We may disclose information when required by law or when necessary to address fraud, security incidents, or threats to people’s safety.
TestFlight beta testing
Apple collects and shares beta-testing information with us through TestFlight, including crash logs, usage information, and feedback you submit. This may include device and app details, screenshots, comments, and, depending on how you join the beta, your name and email address.
We use this information to investigate problems and improve PilotFishIQ. We do not share TestFlight crash logs, usage information, or feedback with third parties.
If we download reports for internal investigation, we delete our copies within 90 days after the associated issue is resolved. Apple’s records are subject to its own retention practices. See TestFlight & Privacy.
Website cookies and analytics
Our PilotFishIQ website pages use Squarespace hosting, necessary cookies, and website analytics. Analytics and activity information help us understand website visits and usage.
The website currently displays a cookie notice, but non-essential cookies are not restricted pending acknowledgment. The banner does not currently offer buttons to decline or manage individual cookie preferences.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect website functionality. See Squarespace’s explanation of website cookies.
This policy covers PilotFishIQ pages and services, not purchases or unrelated activities elsewhere on the Oceanic Dreams website.
App Analytics
PilotFishIQ uses Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google, to understand how the app is used and improve its features and reliability. We collect limited information about actions such as requesting or completing a trip analysis and opening Forecast Outlook. Firebase may also collect app-instance identifiers and general device, application, and usage information.
We do not send precise location, route or destination details, boat information, marine or weather conditions, search queries, or Captain’s Take content to Firebase Analytics. We do not use this information for advertising or tracking users across other companies’ apps or websites.
Analytics information is retained only as reasonably necessary to understand app usage and improve PilotFishIQ. For questions about this use of analytics, contact us through the PilotFishIQ Support page.
Support messages
When you email support@pilotfishiq.com, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include, such as your name, question, route details, and screenshots. Our support address forwards messages to a mailbox used by Wolf Labs LLC.
We use correspondence to respond, investigate problems, and handle privacy requests. We retain resolved support conversations for 12 months after closure, then delete them unless a legal obligation requires longer retention. Please avoid sending sensitive or unrelated personal information.
Retention and deletion
Local profiles and preferences remain until removed or cleared; they do not automatically expire based on age. Recent trip history is limited to ten completed records. Deleting a boat profile does not necessarily remove boat information captured in earlier trip results.
Device backups may retain app data according to your device and backup settings. Removing local data does not delete independently retained provider records, service records, or backup copies.
Application caches use expiration settings appropriate to the forecast or alert data being reused. Cache expiration is not a guarantee that related records held by providers are deleted at the same time.
Cloudflare’s built-in Pages Functions log stream does not persist its streamed logs. Other platform analytics, security records, and provider records are governed by the applicable services’ retention practices. See Cloudflare’s Pages logging documentation.
The specific retention rules for company-held support messages and downloaded TestFlight reports are described above. We do not promise immediate deletion from systems or backups outside our control.
Your choices and privacy requests
You can choose which optional boat details and support information to provide, manage browser cookies, and stop participating in the beta through TestFlight.
Contact support@pilotfishiq.com to ask about information we hold or request access, correction, or deletion. Depending on applicable law, you may have additional rights, including rights to object to or restrict certain processing.
We may need information to verify your identity and locate relevant records. We will explain any applicable limits, including legal retention requirements or information held independently by a provider.
No electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Avoid including information that is unnecessary for trip analysis or support.
Changes and contact
We will update this policy as PilotFishIQ develops, including before introducing materially different data practices such as accounts or additional analytics. We will provide notice and obtain consent where required. The date above identifies the latest revision.
